Antoninianus (2.59g, 23.00mm) Ticinum Mint Struck: 279 AD
Description

Probus Ticinum SALVS AVG

Obverse: IMP _ C PROBVS AVG CONS III
Reverse: SALVS _ AVG
Emission: 6
Officina: 1
Bust type: H2 = Radiate bust left in consular robe, holding eagle-tipped sceptre (Scipio)
Exergue marks: -
Literature: RIC 565var (unlisted bust H2 and no mintmark)
Rarity: R3

Note: An extremely rare specimen, the only known piece. It comes from the rare first phase of the 6th Ticinum issue (according to K. Pink's classification), characterized by a lack of insignia on the mintslip, combined with a rare and sought-after dated title (CONS III). Additionally, there are no mint markings, making this coin unique (usually for this issue, it's the letter A located in a field or on the mintslip – this is an indentation, and verification is not 100% certain).
