BOEOTIA. Thebes. Circa 395-338 BC. (Bronze, 12 mm, 1.90 g, 3 h), Struck under the magistrate Thion-. Youthful head of Herakles to right. Rev. ΘΙΩΝ Club on bow upwards; above, H. BCD Boiotia 530a. HGC 4, 1387. Extremely rare, with seemingly none offered in recent years. Rough surfaces*, otherwise,* about very fine.

ΤΕΓΕΑΤΑΝ Kepheos on the left, standing to right, nude except for a helmet, holding a spear and shield in his left hand, and extending his right hand towards Athena; Athena on the right, standing to left holding a spear in her left hand and a lock of Medusa's hair in her right, between them, Sterope standing to right, holding a vessel to receive the lock, monogram above and below.
